Do a summary of the text :
This text is about a student's speech named Paul.B at Rich Central high school. The questions that were asked were : "What will the future be like ?" ; "What is going to happen in the next 20 years?" ; "Will technological progress make our world a paradise ?".
Paul talks about how the future could be if we continue living the way we do. He shows us the unlivable world where animals are extinct, trees are extremely rare, children can only be done once in a lifetime and air is extremely polluted. On top of that, he demonstrate that we, humans, don't recognize the damages that our consumption is making and what are the long-terms effects about it. He quotes some examples and asks if one day, the world will change again despite our horrible mistakes. Finally, he affirms that in the past hundred years, we have damaged the world more than in all of previous history and explains why. He concludes on the fact that unless with make a move today, our world will only get worse.
What do you think about the text :
I think that his point of view on our daily damaging consumption is really good and well said. He is determined about this fact and affirms and shows us that we are responsible about our future and that we need to change today unless we want to live in a unlivable world.
What do you do at home to not pollute :
At home, to limit the impact that my consumption causes on the world, I try to turn off the lights, the heating and all that pollutes as soon as I can. I tell my parents to turn off the car engine when it is possible and not to let the air conditioning or heater run in the car for nothing. When I can avoid taking the car with my parents to go somewhere, I take my bike.
Bonne continuation et bonne journée.
