If I were a parent, I would be one that cares about their safety but gives them the freedom to make their own choices.
I would let my kids have a phone at around the age of 11/12. But with this privilege, I won't allow them to have social media until the age of 13. I don't want them to get hurt.
I would also let my kids go outside and play with their friends. Of course I will not let them go alone, or without me knowing. They could meet people who don't have my kid's best interests in mind, therefore leading the stranger to injure them or cause a problem.
Finally, I would my kids play around with different ingredients and see what would happen, in other words, I'd let them experiment. I'm aware of the dangers of mixing things that can cause poisonous reactions, so I won't let them near any toxic products.
I want to make my kids happy, but at the same time, I need to keep them safe while doing so.
